Placement Testing
Starting in courses that match your skills and academic preparation can make a significant difference in your college experience. Placement testing helps us understand your strengths and prior learning so we can guide you into the courses where you are most likely to succeed.
The Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA2) is a state-required program designed to support student success and help ensure students are prepared for college-level coursework. Unless exempt, students attending public colleges and universities in Texas are required to demonstrate college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics before enrolling in classes.
- Visit Placement Testing for more information about testing requirements, testing options, and fees.
- Fees must be paid to the campus Business Office prior to testing.
- Plan to arrive at the testing center at least five hours before closing to allow sufficient time to complete testing.
- Some students may qualify for a TSIA2 exemption based on official SAT, ACT, STAAR EOC, GED, or HiSET scores submitted to Lone Star College. Visit TSI Exemptions and Waivers to learn more.
